The Perrin Technique

Perrin Technique – what is it and how can it help me?

Dr Sarahjane O’Leary is a licensed practitioner of The Perrin Technique (trained by Dr Raymond Perrin, Osteopath and Neuroscientist).

The Perrin Technique aids in the diagnosis and treatment of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue (ME/CFS) and Fibromyalgia, and is backed up by over 30 years of research validating it. It is an approach by which registered and licensed Osteopaths of The Perrin Technique work with the body’s sympathetic nervous system, lymphatic drainage system and other systems and areas of the body to help drain harmful toxins allowing the body to heal.

Dr Perrin’s research has found that in ME/CFS harmful chemicals build up in the brain and spinal cord resulting in dysfunction of the sympathetic nervous system. While the sympathetic nervous is mostly widely known for its activation of the “fight or flight” response, it is also responsible for controlling blood flow and the daily functions of all the organs, and is especially important for lymphatic drainage. Sufferers of ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia are usually suffering from long term issues with the sympathetic nervous system, and as a result of this will have poor lymphatic drainage of the body, head and face, which leads to a build up of toxins resulting in dysfunction.  Dr Perrin’s technique can help improve the sympathetic nervous system, and the lymphatic drainage of the brain and body, to improve function and bring the body back to a better equilibrium, state of health and wholeness.
